If your breasts are asymmetrical, underdeveloped, or have lost their fullness after lactation, you may be a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery.
We choose the prosthesis we will use together before the surgery, based on your breast structure, rib cage and soft tissue thickness. Before surgery, an evaluation of your existing breast tissue with a breast specialist and a radiologist is required.
You can return home after the surgery and start working in two or three days.
Your breasts may not be the size you desire after the development period. One of your breasts may be less developed than the other. You may have been happy with your breasts in the past, but you may think they look different now. If you have lost a lot of weight, breast-fed a child, or as a result of aging, your breasts may have lost their fullness and changed shape. In all these cases, breast prostheses and enlargement surgeries can correct the shape and size of your breasts and help you achieve a more harmonious body.
Your plastic surgeon will examine your breasts before surgery and perhaps take photographs. He will examine the volume and shape of your breasts, the structure of your skin and the location of the nipples. If your breasts are droopy, you may be offered a breast lift surgery along with a breast prosthesis. Your general health condition, drug allergies, operations you have had so far (for example, breast biopsy) and treatments will be questioned.
There is no scientific data showing that breast prostheses increase the risk of breast cancer. However, special techniques may be required when performing mammography on breasts with prosthesis. Breast prosthesis does not prevent pregnancy and breastfeeding is always possible. Breast prosthesis does not create any difficulties in your own breast examination.
The surgery must be performed in a hospital and is usually performed under general anesthesia. The prosthesis is placed behind the breast tissue through an incision around the nipple. It can also be placed through an incision in the submammary groove or under the armpit. The room where the prosthesis will be placed can be prepared in front of or behind the chest muscle. After the surgery, a small dressing is applied and a bra is worn. It is possible to return home the same day. You can return to work within two or three days and participate in all sports activities within three weeks.
Aspirin should not be taken before surgery and for the following 3 weeks due to its bleeding-increasing effect.
What Type of Prosthesis Should Be Used?
Prostheses vary according to their contents, shapes and surface features. Prostheses filled with serum or silicone gel are widely used. Geometric shapes can be round or drop-like. The surfaces of breast prostheses can be smooth or rough. Each different feature has advantages and disadvantages. When choosing the most suitable prosthesis for you, your plastic surgeon will take into account your anatomical structure and current breast shape and will also take your wishes into account. It should be noted that health insurances do not cover this type of aesthetic applications.
The choice of your plastic surgeon is very important. Bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing or asymmetry are very rare after breast augmentation surgeries performed by an experienced plastic surgeon and in modernly equipped hospitals. The body surrounds the breast prosthesis with a shell. If the shell thickens, the prosthesis may become compressed and displaced, and in rare cases, the prosthesis may need to be replaced with a new surgery.
Breast augmentation surgeries allow you to have fuller and well-shaped breasts. This initiative, which is frequently done all over the world, will both strengthen your self-confidence and help you wear dresses in different styles.
Breasts may lose their fullness and shape due to reasons such as decreased skin tension, gravity, weight loss, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Women who are satisfied with the size of their breasts may request breast lift surgery to have firmer and fresher breasts. Some women experience both sagging and loss of volume in their breasts. In this case, a breast prosthesis can also be applied to increase fullness during breast lift surgery.
Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?
If you have one or more of the following conditions, you may be a good candidate for aesthetic breast lift surgery;
If you have sagging but sufficiently large breasts,
If your breasts have lost their volume and fullness,
If your nipples point downwards,
If your nipples are below the level of the inframammary groove.
Sometimes sagging breast structure may run in the family. Sometimes, one breast may be well developed and full, while the other may be problematic. There may be differences in shape and size between breasts. Large breasts can also be lifted, but the results are not as permanent and long-lasting as the lift procedures for small breasts.
Breast lift surgeries can be performed at any age, but plastic surgeons advise waiting until the end of the development period. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can greatly affect the shape of your breasts. However, many women request breast lift surgery before pregnancy and also consider minor corrections after lactation. Since the relationship between the milk ducts and the nipple is preserved and the milk glands are not touched during the procedure, milk can be given after breast lift surgery.
Your plastic surgeon will ask you about your desired breast size and shape at the first meeting. He will explain how to move saggy nipples to their normal places. Also, telling your plastic surgeon about the problems that bother you other than your breast will help your doctor understand your expectations. During the examination, some measurements may be taken and photographs may be taken. The shape and fullness of your breasts, the elasticity of your skin, the level and diameter of your nipples are noted. At the same time, your doctor will question you about your medical history, general health condition, allergies, previous treatments you have had, and medications you use. Breast lift surgeries are not covered by private health insurance.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Accepted breast lift methods can be divided into 3 main groups; The first method can be performed around the nipple, but the breast shape obtained in this method is more flattened and flat. The second method is performed with a stitch line around the nipple and an inverted T-shaped stitch extending under the breast and in the inframammary groove. The last method that we frequently recommend is the lift surgery, which is performed with a short suture line running vertically under the nipple and under it. In all surgeries, the excess skin that has lost its elasticity is removed, and the lower nipples are moved higher, to where they should normally be. The breast tissue is elevated to fill the upper breast quadrants. After the surgery, a small dressing is applied and a bra is worn. You can return home on the day of surgery, return to work within three to four days, and start exercising within a few weeks. It is desirable to have a relative take you home after surgery and stay with you overnight.
Bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing and asymmetry after surgery occur very rarely in experienced hands. Minor corrections can simply be made at any time. The sensation of the nipples is preserved in experienced hands. Before the surgery, your plastic surgeon may find it necessary to perform a mammography. We recommend supporting the scar lines with special tapes and applying some scar-specific creams in the 2-month post-operative period to improve the quality of the scars and help them fade early.
If the size of your breasts affects your activities and bothers you, or if your bra straps cut into your shoulders, contact us without delay.
Before surgery, we jointly evaluate the condition of your existing breast tissue with a breast specialist and radiologist. We use the “vertical mammoplasty” technique for both breast reductions and lifts.
Most of the time, you can go home after surgery and return to work within a few days
Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?
If you have one of the following complaints, you may be a good candidate for aesthetic breast reduction surgery:
If your breasts are large compared to your general body structure.
If you have heavy and sagging breasts with the nipples pointing down.
If one of your breasts is larger than the other.
If you have back, neck and shoulder pain due to the heavy breasts. If
skin problems such as diaper rash have started under your breasts.
If your bra straps leave deep marks on the shoulders. If
your breasts are large and heavy. If your daily life is restricted because
you are not at peace with yourself because your breasts are large.
Breast reduction surgeries can be performed at any time after breast growth is complete. Lactating women should wait for breast reduction surgery. If you are pregnant and planning to breastfeed, you should inform your plastic surgeon.
Depending on your age and if there is breast disease in your family, a mammographic examination may be required before surgery. Breast reduction surgeries do not increase the risk of breast cancer.
Before the surgery, your plastic surgeon will ask about your medical history, the medications you take, the surgeries you have had, and whether you have breast disease or allergies. Generally, private health insurance does not cover aesthetic breast surgeries.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The accepted breast reduction method can be grouped under 4 main headings; It is possible to reduce the size of breasts rich in fatty tissue to some extent with the liposuction method. The second method can be performed around the nipple, but the breast shape obtained in this method is more flattened and flat. The third method is performed with a stitch line around the nipple and an inverted T-shaped stitch extending under the breast and in the submammary groove. The last method that we frequently recommend is reduction surgery, which is performed with a suture line running vertically around the nipple and under it. You can return home on the day of surgery or the next day, return to work within three to four days, and start exercising within a few weeks.
Surgical scars fade within months and fade away over the years. After breast reduction surgery, symmetry may not be perfect and the heights of the nipples may differ slightly. Minor corrections can simply be made at any time up to six months after surgery.
After your aesthetic breast reduction surgery, you will have firmer, smaller and fuller breasts. You will be much more comfortable while doing sports and during your daily activities.
